The Virginia Street Art Festival is looking for artists and volunteer-helpers.
The non-profit festival beautifies urban areas by painting murals legally.
Other creative activity also like performance also happens during the festival.
Past festival artists have decorated Waynesboro with murals
near the Wayne Theatre,
at Basic City brewery’s back yard,
On the YMCA,
and on the old “ice house” tower near Constitution Park.
This year it’s scheduled for the last weekend in August.
All murals will be painted in Waynesboro.
Subject matter for proposed mural designs is
wide open –except no obscenity or politics allowed.
Mural sites are in public view where children might see.
Art teachers needing recertification points, as well as
students, scouts, or cadets wanting community service projects,
are encouraged to help out as volunteer-helpers or
even as artists.
